Dangerous Names

(Original title: Gevaarlijke Namen)
Video design for performance about the genocide in Srebrenica.

Yugoslavia-born Alma Mustafić and Dutchtbat veteran Ray Braat were eyewitnesses to the genocide in which more than 8,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys died 25 years ago. They tell their penetrating story in this performance, supported by three actors and a musician.

Beeldjutters created the video projections on the set. The visuals were made in Srebrenica and the surrounding area, during a journey that made a big impression.

We saw the beautiful landscape, the mountains and the river Drina in stark contrast to the remnants of the harsh reality that took place there. Everywhere you look there are still abandoned buildings and walls with bullet holes. This contrast in the landscape has been captured on camera and processed into animations to support the personal stories, told by Alma and Ray.

In the video design, the visuals move like a long breath through the performance, along with a monumental list of names of the more than 8000 murdered men.
