Schnittke’s Stichi Pokajanije

A spiritual immersion in the Russian Orthodox tradition.

With his twelve penitential psalms, composer Alfred Schnittke wrote poignant, contemplative music. “We are all sins” is the message from which an eternal desire for comfort, light and forgiveness is born.

Cappella Amsterdam performed the works of Schnittke in a magical way in Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ. Beeldjutters was inspired by the paintings of Malevich and translated the twelve psalms into visuals that were projected on the wall during the concert.
