The bridge as a symbol for connecting and playing.

To create better accessibility and liveliness between residents of two neighborhoods, an initiative for a bridge over the water was started by some citizens of Utrecht. In order to create support for this bridge, Beeldjutters was commissioned to visualize the bridge above the water. With video projection on a water screen, an optical illusion was created in which the bridge rises from the water and is turned exactly into place. In the animation we see the bridge in a historical context, as a universal object for connecting people.

Connecting local residents is a core value in this project. Therefore Beeldjutters came up with a storyline in which the residents of the neighborhood play the leading roles. The silhouettes in the video projection are actually the local residents, filmed in front of a green screen. Hikers, old people and children, people who just visited the nearby café or snack bar, a musician on his way to the music stage nearby. They playfully come together on the bridge, fused with a touch of magic.
