Danse Macabre

“I’m wholly absorbed in the vast expanse of wheatfields, large as a sea.”

Two dansers embrace in the vast stretched landscape. Intwined with their surroundings. It seems they have been there forever. What follows is a duet between light and dark, dream and reality, holding on and letting go. A dance of the dead, just as touching as it is absurd, in a sea of light projections.

Beeldjutterst took inspiration for this dance performance from the threatening landscape paintings of Vincent van Gogh. The Dance Macabre was amongst others to be viewed during the Museum-night in the Van Gogh museum and in the garden of the the Sint-Janskathedraal.
