The Plastic Soup Foundation organized the first summit about the danger of micro- and nanoplastics on human health. A day with internationally renowned speakers, presented by Twan Huys. Beeldjutters was asked to shake up the room with light, smoke, audio and visuals between the scientific lectures. We created an experience based on the four themes of the day. Theater Amsterdam’s semicircular screen was perfect for surrounding the audience in a world of whirling plastic particles.
The day was dedicated to finding answers to the question: how to take care of the next generation? The tone was set with an opening film in which the journey of micro- and nanoplastics through the human body was visualized, ending in a threatening image of microplastics in the womb. To emphasize the danger of chemical additives, the room was darkened even further with low-hanging smoke, poison green light and the image of a person being broken down by microplastics. When the day continued with talks about solutions to the plastic problem, the speakers were introduced with a slightly more hopeful visualisation of microplastics which are brought to a stop. The day ended with the image of a healthy baby in a plastic-free womb.
