Wildwater tells the story of the timeless attraction and struggle between man and water. It is no coincidence that the work was seen in Dordrecht: it is a city that has traditionally been vulnerable to flooding. Due to climate change and rising sea levels, the battle of humans against water is once again in the spotlight. Beeldjutters makes the battle tangible in a place where three major rivers in the city meet.
The installation can be seen from different angles and features three projectors and fountains to create a fierce spatial design, giving the wild wind and the turbulent water a leading role. Inside the water a human figure rises, controlling the movement of the waves, until she is flooded by the water itself. The movement of the human figure was created by capturing dance movements with a motion capture suit, and creating an animation in 3D.
